The Highwaymen is currently on Netflix, I assume you’re like me and waiting on the DVD.
The reason I asked about Sparrow Creek is the ending.
The movie is good not only because of the quality of the filming, but also the story itself. The guys that did the movie seem to be making movies that are more palatable to the more politically conservative / libertarian. I don’t think that is their mission, but they’ve done 4 movies that I am just pretty sure regular Hollywood would not produce. I think that Hollywood has been messing up with both hands because they continually insult a huge number of people – and if we quit going to see their filth, it seems they won’t make money. Generally, blatantly treating your audience like they are uneducated hicks from the sticks seems like a bad business plan. There are too many alternatives today to have to watch your values be trashed.
The ending though, to discuss, would be a spoiler. If I understand the movie correctly, and I’ve not gone back and really watched the ending a 2nd time, really hits home. I don’t feel like the topic was used in a way to inflame or exploit – it just said what it said and faded to black.
