Looks like everyone has been busy. Didn’t read through all of the above but will get back to reading post. Very interesting stuff.
Took DH to orthopedic doctor and the knee is fine. It is the muscle that has gotten so weak it cannot hold him up. So that is why there was no pain and the knee just collapsing on him. Makes for high risk falls. He now has a brace to stablize the knee and will be doing therapy to try to bring the muscles back.
Went to Ledil’s today and bought canned potatoes, corn and green beans. Got a case of each. We had no garden this year because of DH’s ongoing illness. It has been one thing after the other with his health and we are not there yet. But he is starting to get a bit stronger.
Watching prices now for sweet potatoes and white potatoes to can. I bought 50 chicken legs to can as DH loves them with barbeque sauce for a snack. I can get 5 of them in a quart canning jar and since they are easy to can, I hope to have them done tomorrow. We still can’t go to Church here so I lesson to the sermon on line while canning. At least I have something for church right now other than just reading my Bible. And I can get things done at the same time.
I turned my small bedroom into a pantry since this house does not have one. Already it is full. I keep my first aid kits in there and I have 6 of them. They are very full at the moment. DH being on blood thinners still, is one reason I have so much. We go through gauze, bandaids, and a lot of other things with him. I have had to use stop bleed or quick clot on him a few times as his skin is so thin it doesn’t take much to cut himself. It happened at the orthopedic doctors yesterday. DH had to have x-ray and when he got on table he hit his elbow and we didn’t know it. So while the doctor was fitting him with the brace, he saw all the blood on his shirt. It was soaked. So he got some gauze and covered it and then used an ace bandage to hold it on him. So I got a nice ace bandage out of that deal to add to my stash. I had to change the bandage a few times already today. This is how it goes and you can go through a first aid supply fast when someone is on blood thinners. He should be off of them in 4 months.
I was going to plant a winter garden but don’t have the energy nor the time now. Heart rehab and phy. therapy, plus going to so many doctors with DH, it has just worn me down. All this couldn’t have happened at such a worse time as this year has been. So the stores will be my friend this year to keep what I have already canned stocked with store bought foods. But next spring will be a new day dawning and I should be able to get back to having my garden and expanding it next year. I have removed the huge bushes from across the front of house and have mulch in there for now. The flower beds all the way around the house are raised beds to make it easier to plant. So I am going to plant potatoes on one side of house and sweeet potatoes on the other. On front of house will be cherry tomatoes and herbs. Not sure what else yet but the boarder of the front flower beds will have flowers edging it.
Working on our bobs as they have been neglected for a long while now. So have to get them out and redo them.
Don’t know what is going to really happen after this election, but I am sure it will not be good. So trying to prepare for possible riots and who knows what else but whatever it will be it will not be good.
Stay safe everyone and God bless.

It has been awhile since I have been on here. Been very busy now for a few months. DH has been very ill and not regaining his strength like I had hoped. He is in congestive heart failure and I have been really busy trying to take care of him and clean house and other things as well. Lots of doctor visits. He has been in ER 3 times and hospital 4 times since the end of April. And has had 2 surgeries. He was in heart rehab for a bit, but had to put it on hold till he sees an othopedic doctor for his knee. He has no warning when it goes and he falls. So this is an issue. Very high fall risk. though he is using a walker. I have to stay right with him when he gets up to walk anywhere. They clamped his mitral valve and had the watchman put in to get him off the blood thinners. They have done more damage than good.
We did not do a garden this year and I am going to miss that as veggies and everything else seems to have doubled in price. Though I am set for a good year or more. I only go out for RX’s, eggs and milk and to fill in the holes in my food supply at times.
I am getting very tired these days as I have broken sleep getting up and down with DH. But by the will of God, we will get through this rough patch. This has been a year no one will ever forget. Fires, Corona virus, floods, hurricanes, you name it, it has hit this country hard. And now our president and his wife has come down with this dreaded virus. Praying for a fast and full recovery for the both of them and anyone else going through this mess.
Hope everyone here is safe and sound and above all well.
You know you are getting old when you have more doctors than friends.

We really don’t use our patio door. It does have a bar in it also. Our windows are casement windows and we don’t open those. Only the bathroom windows when need be for fresh air and to air out rooms. All the windows have an alarm that if anyone tries to open one, the alarm will go off alerting us to a possible break-in. We also have steel doors on both front door and side garage door. we have the bars that go under the door knobs for those as well and no windows in doors but we can see who is on the other side of those doors. The garage door is also steel and has a security lock so it cannot be lifted or any device being used to break the code to open it. Plus we can padlock that door on both sides so it cannot be lifted in anyway. The garage door is 18 ft. long and has no handle to lift it up from outside. So with the padlocks and the security device to keep anyone from breaking the codes would have a hard time with that door. Still I am sure there are other things we can do and are working on the cameras and other things for our protection.

I do have some silver and gold both. It’s not much but the prices on gold has gone through the roof. The silver I have not seen what it is worth now, but I guess if you own enough of it, that would be great. I don’t own enough to do a lot with but I know the gold is high enough to pay my taxes a couple of times. I guess that would count for something.

Thank you so much Cinnamon Grammy for the prayers. It has been a long hard several months, but DH is getting a bit stronger. He still can’t do much of anything without loosing his breath but hopefully after he has the second surgery to get him off the blood thinners and starts the heart rehab, things will start looking up within a couple of months. I am tired but still doing ok. My thyroid was way off and hopefully that is getting back in line again.
I have been doing a lot of canning though we don’t have a garden this year. But what I have seen and from what people are saying, I think maybe it might not have been a bad idea to have decided not to plant the garden this year. But on the bright side of that. The soil got a rest.
I have been canning all sorts of things from the huge freezer we have. I have canned hamburger, veggie soup or as DH calls that stone soup. It has all kinds of veggies in it from freezer. Made barbeque and canned it, beef, chicken and turkey. I am looking to finish canning what is left in freezer. I have it a little over half way emptied now. Need some new canning recipes for what I have in there. Still a lot of frozen veggies, beef, chicken, Not to mention bacon that DH cannot eat due to salt. So thinking of calling my granddaughter to give to her if she has the freezer room. I bought turkey bacon with low sodium that DH can eat. Though it’s not the same as the real deal, it will do.
We are staying home for the most part and only talking and texting to family members. Due to how 3 of them work, We must keep our distance. ER and other places that can be a high risk. Can’t take the chance with DH’s heart issues.
DH has had his shower and is now in bed watching TV so I do have a little time to myself right now. That does help to have that little bit of time. Though now that he is walking on his own with the rollator, without my being right there walking behind him and the fact that now he can take a shower without my help also, has freed up my time just a little bit. Hoping this next surgery doesn’t set that back. He will be in hospital for just an overnight stay. I will be staying there with him as well.

My granddaughter’s job is in security. She is getting us set up and she will even be able to watch over us from her house in CA and us in VA. She is sending the cameras out and then we just get everything set up and she will take over from there to finish the set up. She set up her other grandmother’s house as well. I am also doing other things as well. They won’t like trying to get into windows when I get done. Ouch. Though my windows I have will be hard to break into anyway. I am just making sure they get hurt before they can try to get in. A good guard dog and shotgun will do the rest.

Parts of where we live got hit with 2 tornadoes and did a lot of damage. Also in Cortland, tornado hit and did damage. We did ok. We did loose phone, cable, and internet and just got that back this morning. A few houses in our neighborhood lost power and got that back just a while ago. Though had we lost power, we have a whole house generator. So it really wouldn’t have effected us on that.

I have a Berkey filter system and love it. though as stated above it can be slow going but not to bad. Also have several sawyer filters and the life straw as well. Bought my Berkey several years ago and want to get a second one, but the prices has doubled since I got mine.

I have seen this here as well. I was going to cash in my change, but something keeps telling me to hold on to it a bit longer. Seems that the US Mint that makes coins is shut down due to the C-19. So they are not making coins now. Don’t know if that is true or not but is what I have been hearing.
If I do decide to cash my coins in, I will take it to DH’s cousin’s market and sell it to them. I know they would love to have it.

Hello Antigo69 and welcome.
Josefina. I am to a point I am mentally tired. Picked up car today as they have had it since Sunday night when I dropped it off for warrenty work. I am so tired of the lies from these people. I called them this morning to find out when car would be ready. They said they texted me. Lie number one. Then said because of hurricane they couldn’t get the parts delivered but when I went in to pick car up they said they haven’t been able to get parts for 2 weeks. Well since the hurricane was on Monday They told lie number 2. And I got a letter that I am now involved in a class action suit against Hydundai as they are not doing the warrenty work or anything. I am going to make some phone calls. tomorrow. No idea when I can get car fixed now and DH is going to have more surgery and heart rehab. So I told them when I bring it back I want a loaner car or rental and I am not paying for either since this is warrenty work.
Also the post office delivered 2 packages to a wrong house. I have been back and forth about it and nothing. I have a code and the tracking numbers and they are not doing anything. I don’t know what packages these are at this point. So I am going to file a high price claim for the inconvence. I am so over people at this point.

The hurricane is suppose to hit us sometime tonight or early morning. It is pouring down rain right now. I am thinking that for us as we are not in a flood zone, it won’t be to bad with this one, but with high winds we could loose lights. But we have a whole house generator so will be ok there as well. This is the last thing we need right now with the C-19 virus.

Can’t believe it’s August already. This year is flying by.
I have had a very busy few months. DH has been very sick and weak. He is in congestive heart failure since October or Nov. of last year. It has gotten worse. Of all the times for him to end up in ER was near end of April. 4 times to ER and 3 was admitted to hospital. Those were scary times to say the least. He is still having to have another surgery. The first was that they had to clip his mitral valve to stop it from leaking. Things were really bad before that was done. Now he is going in for a procedure called the watchman. It is a device for people with Afib. that cannot take blood thinners as that was part of his issues. This device will stop any blood clots from entering the heart and going through his body. This will stop them and they will dissolve on their own with no issues of having a stroke. So I have been a full time caregiver for my husband. It has been touch and go but he is starting to get a bit stronger and will be starting heart rehab to build the heart muscle back up. This will also give him back some much needed energy.
Otherwise I have been busy canning everything from freezer. We were unable to do a garden this summer with everything going on. But I was already well stocked. Canned chicken, beef, turkey, made barbeque and canned it. In process of canning several types of soups and beans with ham as well. Since the Corona virus is keeping us home as DH is high risk. I am trying to get my huge freezer emptied and then going to restock it.
Hope everyone is doing good with all this mess going on. Glad to see everyone here still. Stay safe and I will try to get on here more often.

I don’t believe anything Fauci has to say on this virus. He is a supporter of the Clinton foundation as well as the other democrats that are taking us down the wrong road. He supports more garbage than we can ever imagine. None of it good. Don’t know why Trump hasn’t fired his butt yet or he has no idea what this man stands for. Fauci is the one that took us in the wrong direction for this coronavirus. And yes why aren’t the numbers coming out in areas that have been open for business by now. We just went into faise 3. Seems here the numbers are still down last I heard.

Hoping everyone had a great 4th of July. Our neighborhood and the one next to ours all got together and had a parade through the neighborhood and some neighbors had hotdogs, hamburgers and other good stuff to eat at their homes. I couldn’t do much with having to take care of DH but it was a fun time. They are going to do it again next year as well as on other holidays as well. Hoping DH and I can be a bigger part of it by then. Great way to meet the neighbors as we have a lot of new ones that have moved in. I have never seen a more patriotic group of neighbors. It was great. The flags were flying as well as the blue flags for our police force and the Trump signs as well.
Reading some of the post and see about the shortage of coins. I have only seen one sign in a dollar store here. There really is no shortage. They are using the virus to push for a cashless society. They have been pushing for this for years now. It’s part of the one world government. Remember when credit cards first came out. Everyone thought it was great and many people went into debt because of it. Yeah, it was an I got you now. We became dependent on those cards and it caused a lot of grief for many including causing families to break up and divorce over money matters. It was one of the things that broke up the family unit. Government loved it then and even more now. Now if you use a credit card, you are being tracked for everything you buy. the Government is keeping tabs on what you buy and no one seems to know it or realize they are being watched by way of credit card. When we go cashless the government can and will control you. It is coming down the pipes all in the name of socialism and communism.
Glad to hear everyone’s garden is doing well. We have not planted this year. Hoping for a winter garden. I did get 10 lbs. of hamburger canned up. Makes great for quick meals. I am thinking that since there is suppose to be a meat shortage, I will just can as much meat as I can this summer and hit the farm markets for veggies. Though we do have a lot from our last 2 gardens we are still using. Going to pull out a boston butt out of freezer to make barbeque and then can that as well. Got to get the freezer emptied. So after the pork is done, will go through freezer and pull out what meat that is in there to make and can soups, beef stew, and some other things. My make shift pantry is getting full again.

What a sad world we are living in these days. The dems have gone to great lengths to make us dependent on them. We are stuck with Medicare and other things that we have no choice on as it is either that or no insurance for those who can’t afford anything else. Not to mention Social Security which for us is just extra money to prep with. We do NOT depend on social security for retirement or we would be fully dependent on our government to help us with housing and everything else. No thank you. I still say 4 years in congress and then 4 more years behind bars. They are guilty of crimes against we the people and it is time for we the people to wake up and see what is going on. Things are going to get much worse.
