Don’t know about the WW2 aspect as my great grandmother talked of cod cakes and salmon cakes made pretty much just like this long before that conflict.
Somewhere around here I have a WW2 era cookbook put out to go with the rationing, gotta dig for it.
Just remembered that I have it.
