Once you decide popular vote is the way to go, that same mindset is easily extended to “Why should little hillbilly states get as many votes as NY & CA? It’s time to do away with the Senate!”
What this country needs is stronger application of the 10th Amendment, and leave anything outside of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, to the states alone to determine for themselves.
Then, if someone wants to live in a state that provides healthcare and a basic income, they should move to that state.
