James Mitchner: I should think in this day and time, a bit of “paranoia” is not all that bad. Sadly, in our county last year an older couple were murdered in their rural home which distressed everyone, whether we knew them or not. Fortunately, the guys that did it were hunted down and apprehended…a bunch of druggie low life’s that live in a run-down community near the lake. Sort of got everybody to maybe be more aware of who’s doing what and where….these things always shock a small rural county like ours. My home is not isolated, thank goodness although our little village is small – still I live alone so am thinking a bit more about making certain I have my fire arms in working order and handy. And, I do have close neighbors I could call who are armed and have BIG dogs. It would take the sheriff’s people 20 minutes or more to get here should I call 911… The gun control people make me furious!
