Dope cars are often left parked in plain sight and the key delivered to the pickup person who gets dropped off at the vehicle and just drives it away.
Generally, they are left in a public (yet private) parking lot (grocery, c-store, etc) and the pickup occurs with no one the wiser. The dopers in eastern Colorado would leave them at the end of abandoned driveways, as the farmers would let the kids drive the car/truck to the end of the drive and get picked up by the bus, and the dope cars blended in.
Odds are the Jeep wasn’t a stash location but they were hiding it either after a crime or just getting it out of sight while they used another. One of our local dope runners used to swap between about 10 cars stashed in various places.
When he was about to make a run, he’d start being noticable in his flashy car, that way the cops were looking for him in it, not a ” dope car”.
