I’ve never seen a detachable mag Marlin .22 LA, just the tube fed ones and I’ve shot and sold more than a few of those — always reliable and accurate in my experience.
In fact, and this will probably start a fight, I like solid top Marlins more than Winchesters in any calibre
Strength isn’t a real issue at the rim fire end of the scale but when you get into heavier calibres, action strength plus sight mounting options gets way more critical.
At the end of the day, you use what you have and have hopefully had the time and ammo to get proficient with it; putting food in the pot could depend on it.
