Yeah, Namelus. I’d rather be standing just to the side of the door….behind the fireplace brick. That isn’t much protection cuz the brick shatters but.. At least the door itself is solid wood with old fashioned wood X bracing. But it’s tucked oddly into a corner.
The other option is looking out the large front window across the porch…in plain view. And I still can’t see someone in front of the door…..[without a mirror hanging from a porch rafter…LOL ..never thot of that.]
Well anyway, not hearing someone drive in ….come up stairs, is highly unusual. Also the unlocked door is highly unusual. DH left and didn’t lock it and I didn’t think to check. They were only going to be gone “for an hour”….. Ha! Like that worked out so well. Hmph. Glad it was friend not foe.
At least we’re known for having XL dog. Never admit she’ll bite but …”y’know she’s SO big we just don’t like to take chances with her, y’know?” That’s what I say to any service person I don’t know and I don’t introduce her. She’s quite verbal …’talking’…so it does make strangers nervous.
