I prepped for the Big One a month ago.  We were on the fringe and still had a challenge.  Were not in the “blizzard” zone. I used all the pre-placed tools and the food made up ahead. Too tired to eat, let alone cook.  Had laundry done so the wet clothes piled up and had clean ones to use til the worst was handled.  We actually didn’t get to grocery before that one, but could easily adapt around that.  Had feed and heated water for the animals..tho getting TO them was challenging…costing the most in energy!!  We really weren’t hit too bad last month, but any deep snow is harsh for folks our age – with livestock.  And only manual equipment.  [no tractor, skid steer, Kubota, snowblower, nada]  Gonna name our place: “Farm of Forty Gates”!   I was very glad of all the preps I re-positioned up the the house…JIC.  Mostly that’s for loss of power/HEAT – which thankfully didn’t happen.  🙂  Put all that back where it usually “lives” and didn’t bring it up for this one.  At least I know EXACTLY where everything is now.  Old folks gotta refresh memory frequently…hmph!

This time we just got snow and didn’t even do any laborious snow removal like last month.  It’s been warmer and it will melt if we just wait a couple days…even at this altitude.  Odd spring this year.  But then, we didn’t get much snow accumulation. Shovels/brooms were still at the ready, of course, despite recent 60* days here.

The brunt of this somewhat weaker storm is further east of our high Rockies…..in Neb, Dakotas, IA, MN ..and still going eastward.  Big MESSY Spring Storm compounded by the effects last month of the Big One.  🙁   No one is going to be happy for a while where it’s flooding…AGAIN or STILL….or the power is off.  It dropped temperatures drastically.  Hope folks have alternate ways or places to get warm.

OldMtWoman …glad to mostly take a buy on this one…
