The US economy is the largest in the world. The US is China’s largest market for the goods they produce. Directly attacking the US would eliminate their largest trading partner. I think they are more interested in solidifying their dominance in the Western Pacific for now. But Westerners must first realize that everything is war to the Chinese – treaties, trade, political accommodations, EVERYTHING! Military conflict is the last.
