My old shipmates and I discuss both China and Russia all the time. We spend $13B on a single new aircraft carrier while China and Russia spend much less to develop a capability to sink them and deploying hypersonic missiles. We have no defense against them! Unfortunately it was made all too easy for them over the eight years of the previous administration. The US could have built three or four new nuclear subs for that price. I might also mention that the launch system as well as other new installed systems on the carrier aren’t working as designed.
