I keep many different kinds of containers. To the point I am running out of room. However, each has some kind of use in the future. Most of them will be used as part of my barter and trade strategy. Containers will be in short supply not long into the PAW (Post Apocalyptic World). No new ones will be made, other than cloth bags and the occasional metal container hammered out of scrap.

There will be all kinds of trade goods that will need to be measured out in smaller quantities from larger containers. The various medicinal bottles I have will be used for many of these. Small ones for salt and pepper and other spices. Those appropriate for essential oils and various home-made remedies. Small glass jars for alcohol. Some not-quite-a-gallon orange juice jugs will be for purified water. Grains and beans will need somewhat larger ones. Flour and rolled oats will need containers that keep out moisture.

Liquid tight quart and larger containers for lard and oils. And on and on and on. If the container will keep well, then I figure it will be useful in the future. If the container itself will not keep well, I get rid of it.

So says the Devil’s Advocate.
