When our area experiences power outages from high winds or ice storms, we have been without electricity for up to 2 weeks. So far my rural coop water system has not been affected and running water remains available. I will need to rely on food and supplies I’ve stored up as travel into town (30 minutes away) would be challenging if even possible. Our little community is not in an area calling for evacuation. During tornado warnings the local Baptist church with a basement opens up for anyone who wants to shelter there. During an extended power outage, we’re a small community where neighbors tend to watch out for neighbors. As I live alone, I have only myself to look after and neighbors who might need a bit of help. I think I could manage the most likely emergency based on the work I’ve been doing since joining this group nine months ago. Feels good!
