Will I be likely to lose electricity if this emergency happens?
Dunno.
We have lost power more in the spring and summer due to storms than in the winter. So, I would say 50/50. But, we have the wood stove/furnace, gallons of white gas, and all else fails, a large and small portable grill.
Will I have running water?
In the traditional sense, no, if the electricity goes out. But, I can either melt snow, or hump it on down to the brook in snowshoes and haul water back. It is a pain, but doable.
Will I be able to purchase more food and supplies or will I have to rely on what I have already?
We would have to be snowed in for weeks.
Then, start slaughtering chickens.
Will I have to evacuate?
Dont think so. Bugging in is more likely.
Are there any members of my family who will be particularly affected?
No.
