Day 3 National Preparedness Challenge
Will we LOSE ELECTRICITY? Probably. We lose electricity on a regular basis because our power line runs through an untended woodlot. It does not take much for a branch to fall on the line. We have a generator, though.
HAVE RUNNING WATER? Simply, No. We have a country well that needs power to pump and a cistern that is too small.
ABLE TO PURCHASE FOOD AND SUPPLIES?
Maybe. While it seems stable, there is only ONE store in town that sells groceries, and the only one for twenty miles. Not good if there is a major devastation in the area.
Plus, we must be able to get there. We have a half-mile, tree-lined, hilly country drive that routinely has a tree try to mess with out plans. It happened on Friday after some gusty winds passed through. Plus, last year were were house-bound for nearly two weeks because the drive had too much icy snow to allow us to drive downhill.
NEED TO EVACUATE? No. We are on high ground in the middle of farm country.
FAMILY MEMBERS AFFECTED? No. Unless our daughter, who uses a CPAP machine, joins us. No one needs any other special equipment or meds.
We have been away for the weekend, so I must now see how many bottles I can fill with water for the Day One Challenge.
