Threat: Power outage after a major ice storm like what happened in 1991
Will I be likely to lose electricity if this emergency happens? Yes. We lost power in 91 for about 5 days. We had heat from our wood stove and were able to cook on the stove and gas grill.
Will I have running water? Unless pipes get broken by uprooted trees, then no. But I store water just in case.
Will I be able to purchase more food and supplies or will I have to rely on what I have already? Probably. I live in a densely populated suburban area with the major big box stores so I could get supplies if needed. I would avoid going out though.
Will I have to evacuate? Probably not. If we had to I’d either head to my mom’s or check into a hotel
Are there any members of my family who will be particularly affected? My husband would go bonkers. He’s a huge weather nerd, and also gets really worked up with anxiety over storms/weather events. I’d probably have to slip him a xanax.
