Having looked at some others’ intro posts, guess I should tell a bit about my situation, skills, preps, and what got me into prepping in the first place. So here we go. I saw a lot of older preppers, feel a bit out of my element since I’m a young lad, 20’s is what I’ll say, no extra detail on specific age (bit paranoid about being tracked from my posts, sorry). Living on my family’s small hobby farm with a small herd of beef cattle and some horses, a couple of neighbors i know and a couple I don’t. Got some small family dogs as well, pretty much pets, but one’s a livestock herding breed mix from what I can tell and like to help me herd from time to time. I have a little bit a skills, but they aren’t to great or aren’t related to prepping a whole lot. But I’m handy with a woodburner, I’ve got ok pottery skills, working on learning leatherwork/leatherworking at the moment. I’m really good at working with small animals between my pups and my time in 4h, so I got that going for me as well. Larger animals I’m ok at, but not as good as with the smaller ones. I’ve got a little bit of basic preps for everything, and lack the money to get more or better versions at the moment, so I’m going with what I got while i try to save up and stuff. I got a water filter and a thing of water purification pills and some gallon jugs of water, a couple freeze dried meals and a meal ration brick granola bar thing, a good bit of canned food in the pantry (not all mine tho), an esbit stove and some fuel, some matches, a lighter, and 2 flint and steels, some little camping pots for boiling water, some ramen, some tea, a couple different knives, 2 hand crank emergency radios, some tarps and paracord, an external frame backpack I try to keep most of the stuff in or around if it doesn’t have designated spot elsewhere, some survival guides, and some guides to local native edible and medicinal plants, and some guides to local wildlife tracks, and hunting and butchering references. That’s the stuff that is mine to prep with, some of the other peeps have prepping related stuff around the house that could be useful in emergency, but I am main prepper/prepper focused in house. And sounds like a lot when I type it out, but is such small amount of preps in reality, but hopefully should be able to take me through most smaller weather disasters and things. And I got interested in prepping/survivalism and other related things when I was required to read Hatchet in school. From there I got and read the sas survival guide (the little pocket one, if curious), and went further into the rabbit hole, so to speak. And around that same time as a young lad in school, we had to do presentations for something or other (maybe just to get familiar with the computers, I do not know), and in the middle of the 2012 end of the world hype and talking about that cause it was interesting and not boring (to me, anyway) just kinda cemented my interest, though living on farm, i think I would have eventually gotten interested at some point anyway. But I don’t really have any official certs or anything, no first aid or nothing, so I have good bit to catch up on. Oh yeah, forget to mention earlier gardening, have a raised bed I’m playing with, but most successful plant I have manged to not kill thus far is my catnip (which does repel mosquitos a bit, so no complaints). I think that’s everything I was thinking of, so yeah, post end. See y’all around or so, I guess
