OK, ours is a power outage.
Will I be likely to lose electricity if this emergency happens? Yes, by definition.
Will I have running water? Nope – well pump will be out.
Will I be able to purchase more food and supplies or will I have to rely on what I have already? Probably. We rarely have all our area’s commercial sector lose power at the same time.
Will I have to evacuate? Possibly, depending on the weather at the time. The gas fireplace will keep our house from freezing in standard winter cold (though probably not a polar vortex), but it can be pretty uncomfortable. Extreme summer heat would be uncomfortable as well.
Are there any members of my family who will be particularly affected? Yes. We have small children. Extreme temperatures and boredom affect them greatly. I’m not above a trip to that cow-themed chicken restaurant for food, play, and normalcy during an outage.
