I actually had not thought about a blizzard or prolonged period of snow / freezing conditions. (Thanks to whomever mentioned a blizzard first up there in the comments!!) If that were to happen, we would most definitely lose power. However, we have a wood burning heater (and lots of wood at the ready), and propane heaters, so we would still have heat. We also have a propane stove, so, we could cook, and keep warm. We keep a small electric heater out in the well house to keep pipes from freezing, but with no electric, pipes would probably freeze. We have over 50 gallons of drinking water and 3 large (55 gallons) drums full of water I would use for toilets and washing dishes. And for chickens and dogs. DH would break through the ice on pond several times during the day so cows could get a drink. We have enough food to last us a month or more already canned up in quart jars plus all the food in our pantry, so we would not need to go out for anything for at least a month.
