For most weather related emergencies that I would encounter (blizzard, tornado, flooding), we most likely would lose electric. I have gotten two small solar generators that can run a lot of items that I need. I also have several strings of Edison solar lights which do a good job lighting up the house. I also have some larger solar packs and single solar plug in lights which are 60 watts. They are as good as any house lights. I have a solar radio and other solar items which are useful. I also have a gas generator. My cook stove and water heater is propane as well as two propane wall heaters. Also have a wood stove for further heat. I will probably have running water but also have water stored for drinking, cooking, and bathing. Water is stored for the animals also. I have plenty of food storage for me, my two girls, and all the animals. I do not believe that I will have to evacuate. It would have to be pretty bad! No family members will be affected as my daughter has spoken with her doctor about her thyroid medication and has extra of it.
