For the majority of us here in the US, even a left wing win in 2020 is unlikely to put us in the neighborhood of Venezuela.
And while I agree with Selco that the laws can be changed and freedom vanish overnight, I cannot see the leftists in power now having the testicular fortitude to try, or the backing nationally.
Come the morning after the election, there will be a lot of unhappy people, how many are going to step over the line? Because they didn’t get their way.
How many are going to risk their lattes and moccaccinos? Sure the same pot stirrers will be running around, Portland and Seattle will have to find some answers. But are your neighbors going to burn your car because of your bumper sticker?
I have never lived in a place where I feared election results. At least from the neighbors.
