I’ve never walked a power line right of way, but I have walked a pipeline right of way. Don’t know about anywhere else, but here pipelines can be fenced across and animals grazed on that land. Houses are built closer than I would be comfortable with too. So, if you plan to walk a pipeline, you’ll have to climb a lot of fences and watch out for the bulls.
While I have never walked a power line I know one where the houses back right up to the right of way. There is one house that has put a garden actually on the right of way, but less than one half the way across.
So, unless you are in a rural area, you may find people and stuff in the way.
