Trump being jewish is weak . Several things wrong with that argument . firstly , there has always been a thing call ” mixed marriages ” . Mixed can mean many different things . It can be race , religion , cultural is the most common . People from different nationalities marry .That said , its what the children of those parents decide for themselves , that determines what they are . If say a Catholic and a Protestant marry , The children may , or may not , know about both the religions . Regardless of what they learned about either growing up , if they choose to be niether one , that line is broken , because neither will be passed down to their children . Same is true for Judaism . Just because somewhere down the line , a jew and a Christian , or a non religious person marry . This does not make the children of such a union jewish . Another factor is if either parent is practicing a faith , many are born into one , but choose not to be devoted to it . From personal experience , I dated a Jewish girl for several years . She told me many times , she only participates for the sake of her parents , and when they pass on , she was going to quit practicing in any capacity . We are talking great grandparents , in Trumps case , that is pretty far removed . He was obviously not taught in the home about Judaism . His parents were probably not as well . The line is broken , He is no more Jewish than I am Chinese . As for what the Jews decide on passing down heredity , is also irrelevant . Many peoples have matriarchal heredity , if the children adopt the customs of another culture that does not do that ( like ours ) . The line is broken , as going forward , it will not be practiced . I COULD have a Native American ancestor in the past , who’s tribe was matriarchal , that doesnt make me a member of that tribe , or give me any knowledge of those people in any way . My mothers maiden name is a very German one . So what ? Nobody in my family ever spoke German , has ever been to Germany , or knows anything about their culture , including my grandparents , and great grandparents . Regardless , of Trumps distant relative , by Jewish standards of any sect , he cannot call himself a Jew . The line is broken , he knows nothing about being a jew .
