Shortly before I pulled my youngest out of public school, I was dismayed to discover all of her textbooks were online. So there was NO WAY I could keep her off social media when she was allegedly studying because she had to be able to be online to access her schoolwork.
The schools make it almost impossible to monitor your kids when they do things like this.
