A woman, who was a collage professor, who was a generation older than me and for whom I had a great deal of respect, once told me that many young people in the 1950s and 1960s had the attitude “Why should I go to college? We are going to die in WW3 anyway”. Clearly the irresponsible will find an excuse to be irresponsible.
