The garden is growing rapidly. Tomatos and rasperry’s are flowering. Zucchini is producing male and female flowers and the tiny zucchinis are starting to grow. Dill, Parsley, and Kale are being freshly picked and incorporated into our meals. This is the first spring here in this house, and the garden is in 5 gallon buckets.
In 2015 I started a 3 acre organic farm for a restaurant out in California and farmed it for a year, produced lettuce, arugula, tomatoes, beets, radishes, and about 2 tons of butternut squash for the restaurant. It was a lot of work but I learned a LOT about scaling up from a backyard garden to a small farm.
Where I live now in the Mid South there is a long growing season and thankfully more rain than CA! Deciding wether to build a raised bed garden, or buy a tiller and farm a small area of the back yard. Looking at Cost/Benifit/Labor etc. So started with buckets this year. I dont have time to pull weeds, so the buckets are working out for that.
