I’m 80 years old, live alone in a house I own in a rural area and have always laughingly said to family “I’m a semi-prepper; but I think my grandchildren are noticing and I am pointing out to them the “prepper” things I do. This daily challenge will be fun to actually make a point of taking specific action as much of what I do now is sort of routine. So, recently I decided to try to do some indoor gardening with herbs. I brought in from outside pots containing rosemary and parsley. I watched some youtube videos on how to root herbs from grocery store purchases so I have that effort underway with some parsley. Yesterday, I started some spinach seeds planted in a bag of potting soil covered with a clear plastic container and placed in a high sunny area outside. Our fairly moderate winters should allow a continual harvest of spinach all winter (I hope) as it takes 30 minutes to drive to the closest town and keeping fresh veggies on hand is a challenge. Today I’m going to check my modest supply of canned goods in my pantry and determine again how much I might need of each food item to last at least six months. These I’ll order on line for delivery to my house.
