My neighbor had two trees cut down and the tree trimmer told me he was paying to take the wood to the dump! I asked them to leave it for me and they were happy to do that. So every day that I have time I’m taking a cart-load or two of wood and stacking it up next to our house or behind the garden shed (harder to get to). It’s all maple and birch! Pretty good and understandable except I don’t have a wood stove – yet. Funny that in this small town people can’t be bothered with wood! Been working on drying some greens too. I’ve been snipping off parsley leaves, celery leaves, chard, and drying them on the solar dryer for use this winter. Small steps, I know, but I see savings and prepping everywhere. I also have a copy of the Tightwad Gazette in the “reading room” for daily inspiration. For extra money I’ve been selling the excess stuff on ebay and a local facebook site and converting the dough into useable supplies. So each one of these things go on daily right now.
