I am enjoying reading all these posts. I am getting some great ideas. Someone mentioned the thrift store, so….. Today, I went to the thrift store and I SCORED!
Everything that had a cord was 50% off. I bought a new breadmaker, still in the original unopened box for $3! I also bought a barely used box fan for $1!
I also bought a barely used HUGE Coleman cooler for $8 (with original stickers still attached)! It looked like someone took it camping and used it once. The cooler will be perfect for transporting frozen items from the grocery store and such. When the power goes out, coolers are also key here for storing the perishables. In this area, the electrical power goes out for extended periods at least several times a year. With a spring ice storm this year, I lost power for 4 days.
I searched the thrift store books and found — “Wood Stove Cookery” for 10 cents!!! I haven’t cooked on my wood stove yet… That will be a challenge for another day! I now have no excuse.
