i make laundry wash with similar ingredients, but make it as a gel liquid. i only use 1-2 tablespoons in my front load washer to avoid residue. the water does most of the work anyway. if you have hard water, you will get residue with soap. detergent has ingredients to stop that. you could do a wash load with no soap and get out much of your residue. i also use a half cup or so of vinegar in the rinse, which helps. really dirty stuff soaks all day
and is done in the last load.
