Lee, please don’t feel badly if you can’t prep a lot all at once. Most of us can’t do that either. Remember the saying, “slow and steady wins the race”. Many times I haven’t had the funds to buy all the prepping items I wanted right then, or even any at all. At those times I focused on learning new skills, (using the free resources available online or at my local library) or on doing my own product research online to enable me to make lists of exactly what preparedness items I wanted to buy, or make, or barter for, when I would later have the money to do that. Doing that advance research is very helpful because then, when you later have the funds, you can act quickly when you see great sale prices on items on your list (or spot them at a thrift store, or flea market, etc.).
