Today I was so thankful that it was only the Internet that went out for us – and that I had a backup with my cell phone hot spot. Some of the town had no electricity, either, but not most of the businesses. I will have to admit, I was not expecting the entire town that I live in to be paralyzed just because the Internet is out! But it is, including the gas stations! We have to go to another town if we want to buy anything or get gasoline.

The town is still waiting for both electricity and Internet to be restored, but I was able to order a year’s worth of diabetic supplies online (paid $180 for what would cost well over $1000 in the drug store).

Made “anti-cancer” soup for dinner (shitake and enoki mushrooms, Korean radish including leaves, burdock root, garlic, and ginger). Put some fresh water mussels cooked, on the side for those who wanted to add them to their soup. Then toasted some flat bread made from millet and flax in the oven until it was crisp and put out some hummus for dipping. It was a very filling meal, gluten-free and Advent Fast-compliant.
