The 15th I really learned a lesson. My husband always took care of the secondary heating. He passed away July 1. I didn’t think about it. The electric went off during an ice storm and was off for almost 24 hours. It really got cold during that time in the house and concerned me for the plumbing. I had oil lamps and candles, blankets, and food which I could eat but no other heat source. So… Monday, the man is coming to install a propane wall heater which will keep my home (and me) warm and keep the pipes from freezing. Hard (and sad) lesson but a valuable one. Yesterday, I spent the day figuring out about the heat source for this home and the home that I am moving into in the near future. Have two heat sources figured for both. Would be a shame to have all of my other preps taken care of but freeze to death because I have electric heat.
