<p style=”text-align: left;”>We have friends that lost everything in the fires in California. We are looking at different evacuation plans based on how much time we have to get out. He told us he had no warning, the ash and black smoke on his doorstep was his clue to run! Right this minute, I could not evacuate with everything I deem essential because the transmission of our 97 Dodge Ram Dually with 5.9 Cummins Diesel with 120 gallon tank on board just died. In good working condition, we can travel half way across the country without stopping for gas. To do it right, we need $5000.00 to fix it. I don’t have that kind of money laying around. I am safe in my home, but this latest tragedy for our friends has brought home how quickly things change. I’m trying not to stress about the truck because it is a big part of our bug out plan, but it certainly weighs on my mind. We have lists of what to grab if we have 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour. No matter how much time I have, with the current vehicle, I couldn’t even take all the people. I’ve watched YouTube videos and changed the starter and heater fan in my vehicles, but this is beyond my scope of expertise.</p>
