Another gray rainy day but sunshine probable tomorrow! I didn’t get the car emergency bag looked at as planned so that is at top of my list for today. My neighbor is taking a look at the sick generator, doing a bit of troubleshooting….battery is strong, oil has been changed recently. He thinks problem may be in starter button. I’m leaning toward a new spark plug. He did get my rain barrel moved so will be more convenient for small garden I’m thinking about for next year. So excited that the celery stalk base I cut off and put in water is now pushing up new growth. Not sure what to do next but I think maybe planting in potting soil? Watched a youtube video on how to regrow things we purchase at grocery store and he didn’t say what to do next. All part of my inside winter gardening effort. I think I’m in good shape for lighting needs in case of a temporary electrical power outage…sufficient number of candles, flashlights and oil lanterns. Fortunately, in a truly severe longterm emergency, I do have family within walking distance of my rural home. Son is a bit of a prepper also, so I think we’ll be just fine. We’re from old stock, our family settled in this area back in early 1800’s so we are really at home with the old country ways….our rural area didn’t get electricity until 1940s via the TVA dam projects. My how times have changed but we are passing on knowledge of the old ways to our young. Who knows what kind of world my grandchildren will experience? But they definitely ARE NOT SNOWFLAKES. 🙂
