I am working but I keep forgetting to post. I liked the idea of flashlights all over the place. I have them in some places but not all. I bought a command caddies from Amazon and hung them up in the linen closet on the door and the basement storage door and put in two flashlights with extra batteries. I should add the same things on the door of the entry hall closet, the basement door, the dining room buffet, and each of the bathroom doors.
I am collecting and printing potential storage recipes so we can try them and see if we like them. Right now my plan is to try a new one every week and if we like them then put together a box with the ingredients on the shelf in the basement food storage area. Right now these boxes are stacked in the “future” bedroom waiting for shelves to be added in the food storage room. My husband has all the materials to build the shelves but broke his collarbone, so may be up to 2 months before he can continue with that. Until then, I’ll just stack the boxes in the other room. In the last month, I have made 6 boxes with the ingredients for 2 meals in each.
I have updated all our Bug Out Bags and moved them from the entry hall closet to a storage bench next to the front door.
We inventoried the freeze dried food and will use some of that for the “meal boxes”. This weekend, we will inventory the items in the freezers. My goal is to have enough food for 2 years before my husband retires. This can be frozen meals or my food storage boxes. Right now, my goal is to add one box with 2 meals in each to food storage and 3 to 6 meals to the freezer each week. I am also making some meals using freeze dried ingredients in mylar bags.
