Thanks, Farmmom!!! I don’t have a basement nor an in-ground shelter, but when the tornado siren sounds (which means a tornado has actually touched down in our area) I can very quickly get to one of the local church basements which is always opened up during tornado watch moments. So far I just hunker down in my bathroom and pray there’s no direct hit on my house. 🙂 I guess my inclination is to just stay put. I have tried to create an environment where I can survive for a period of time without the “grid.” But this forum activity is really helping me get focused again on emergency preparedness. It’s been a while since I looked at info concerning the New Madrid fault and the area most likely to be affected if it really did a major shift. I don’t have animals as you do and I can’t imagine the challenge finding safety for them might be for you!
