Happy Turkey Day. Visiting friends in another part of the country so prepping is limited to reading and planning. Spent some time researching a replacement blower for our gas fireplace. The company that installed it before we purchase the house wanted $330 for a new blower and estimated 1.5 to 2 hours time to do the replacement, which would be $200 to $300 more. Need to look at the problem in more detail but found replacement blowers for much, much less on lne. Need to pull the old blower so I can figure what is involved with the install. There is access under the fireplace so I can’t figure the 2 hour replacement time. Unless they were going to take the whole fireplace apart!!!
Also read about the evacuation of the town of Paradise last week and why so many people didn’t get any warning. There will be much more written about this in the near future. Bottom line: always have a plan B and C, even for warning.
My note earlier today about Ready.Gov for info on planning for elderly folk, it’s there. If you go to the site and click the “Make a Plan” tab. It has good info for older folks. Also good info on getting warning for various emergencies. Highly recommended is a NOAA All Hazard radio (I have several around the house).
