Hi OldMtWoman and others who have mentioned my posts.  I don’t know any local folks who are “preppers” so I feel like I’m getting to know some great like-minded people who are also funny and help make me laugh. Thanks all. Well, the big thing for me yesterday was discovering how inadequate the bug-out-bag I always keep in the car is so I’ve made a list of everything in the bag currently and made a prioritized list for getting it back up to basic standards. Today my handyman neighbor helped me sort out my tool shed so I can really get into some serious inside gardening. The spinach is taking off, but better grow lights are definitely going to be required. So that’s tomorrow’s trip to town. My little celery stalk growing from a cut off base is doing well on my kitchen counter under a window. Next going to plant the root-filled bottoms of green onions I bought at the store to see what they’ll do.  I’m watching youtube videos all about indoor gardening and getting lots of good ideas. Talked with my sister who lives in another county about what I’m doing. She also is older and lives alone with only electric heat. Got her to thinking a bit more about what she might need to do for warmth and cooking should we have a big ice storm and lines are down for sometimes days before they can get to the rural areas. She really just figures she can go to a motel, but conceded that in the future that might not be an option. I felt glad that I at least got her to thinking. We both decided that whatever comes we’d rather just hunker down in place than get in our cars to face the unknown alone. We don’t live in flood zones or areas likely to have wild fires or near hurricanes. Tornados are the most likely event for us. But at our ages we don’t get terribly stressed out about anything like that, or much of anything anymore. Life is too short not to laugh and enjoy every day. Be blessed everybody!
