Yesterday was one of those travel days from hell. After spending a few days with friends in Arizona it was time to head home. We had checked-in with our airline the day before but since our friends don’t have a working printer we decide to get our boarding passes at the airport. We were checking bags anyway. An hour and forty-five minute drive to the rental car place then a shuttle bus ride to the airport, everything seemed to be going okay. When we got to the airline counter and started going through the procedure the agent advised us that our plane had left 20 minutes ago!! As much as we think we have this travel stuff down, we didn’t consider the time change. We had made our reservations in Idaho online months ago and were flying out of Arizona. During the course of this trip we went back to standard time but Arizona doesn’t change!! Our nifty computer calendar program had failed us, but we were negligent in double checking our schedule. Also, we should have printed our itinaries before we left home so all the flight times would have been right in front of us.
Well, they got us on a flight about five hours later, about the time we should have been pulling into our driveway at home!! Some obvious prepping lessons for us. With computers and electronic calendars we get very complacent. I find the same thing when I rely on my phone’s GPS when driving rather than scouting my route on a map first. More on this trip in my next post. Good news, made it home safe, arriving at about 1:30 a.m.!!!!
