Red Carnation, many years ago I had a job where I was outside from 6am to about 9pm every day and then slept in a tent, year round. Silk long johns, wool socks, and sorrel boots plus wool hat, heavy duty outdoor coat and gloves and I was toasty all the time. I tried all sorts of long johns before I tried the silk ones. They are expensive but worth every penny.
