We moved here a couple decades ago.  We only got an overnite low in the subzero range a handful of times per winter.  Now….we’ve already had that many subzero nights before December. It’s been like that thru the recent period of high sun spot activity.  At least the past decade.  {shrug}

Summers here are glorious ….IF we’re not in drought and have wildfires.  Initially,  we did NOT have drought/fires back then.  Those wonderful 4pm mountains showers had the evergreen trees bright green and full.  Not olive dull and crispy all the time.

Long-timers up here say the harsh winters have been here before….and likely will return for an encore now and again.  I hope the regular summer rains return… the past couple summers haven’t been too bad.  Weather always has some usual variables and some changes that occur over very long periods of time.

Maunder Minimum…..IF that’s what might occur from this current disappearance of sunspots, would be serious.  We can see it recorded at least a couple times in history.  Wasn’t good times for those folks.  Hoping this is just a quickly passing phase….
