Corsaire…I’ve seen those kinds of patches…for rodents! I’ve saved a bunch of lids from frozen juice cans…cuz no sharp edges. Used for various things/crafts, but this use would work too. On another note, we have an ANCIENT old log cabin in our area. Stories told about it… Anyway, I could swear that the roof shingles are from old tin cans. Split up a side and flattened and pounded up there like regular shingles. Takes more cuz they’re thin and irregular length. I think sometimes I’ll actually stop and have a closer look!
Dear Muffy! Y’know…it would be hard to overestimate the emotional impact for nearly all of us….if the Stuff does Hit The Fan in any long-lasting way. 🙁 Such a large portion of our population is only alive because of modern devices/medicines. And ALL of us will be scrambling to keep up if we get whacked back to the 1800’s technology. But yes! Take time away and digest this slowly. Pamper your growing things. I read HappilyEverAfter fiction a lot to BALANCE myself with all the prepper-minded things I do.
Xant Dewit….vinegar? Didn’t know that one. My friend has bees and I’ve helped her when I visit. In these high mts, we have bears so having hives would have to involve some high voltage fences, I’d think. 😮
OldMansd….if you want a rocket stove in your backyard….not mobile…there are easy plans for making that same concept with cement bricks. Google should get you to something. Not even mortared. I think you merely have to break one in half to have it square up right. Also not mobile…cob as a building material? Not sure on that tho. Manufactured ones are pretty, and mobile and expensive!
OK…I stayed up until 2 A.M. today so I could download Daisy’s Lists book during the ‘free usage’ hours of our Internet plan. Perused it for a while….of course…then I went to bed. The rest of today has seemed chaotic….for some reason. I keep trying to catch up and get stuff done so I can begin the rewrite of my EVAC plans. Ha! Did a lot of things but that wasn’t one of them.
Read an article about people buying land in high elevation and northern regions due to what they expect Climate Change will do. Well, I’m not sure we’re going to lose FL to the ocean or heat, but perhaps we will. Those interviewed also worried about continued and increasing hurricanes/ tornadoes/ drought-wildfires/ winter storms, etc. Again, weather does change for long periods of time….and then may switch back. I’m not going to speculate. But anyone who is now carefully not calling themselves “doomsday preppers” and yet they are collecting land, supplies and skills……for whatever reason, I’m in favor. None of us can say for sure but we all have that uneasy feeling that this prosperity ride can’t last forever….for what ever reason(s).
OldMtWoman …kinda got an “itch” today {shrug}
