Old Mansd… I’ve got quite a few of JerryDYoung’s books too. Have you read his redone ‘Expedition’? Very detailed and slow but I kinda like that style. Just got #4 and #5….and don’t know if that finishes it or not. Yay, on your sprouts! What kind of Rocket stove did you decide to build?
Corsaire….yeah, I just ordered a new vacuum. I have two and neither is worthy of spending my scarce energy for not much satisfaction. Didn’t go higher price cuz I’m not sure how long I’m expecting it to last anyway. Either cuz we move or cuz we all lose electricity. [HOPE not!]
As for phone books…yes, we use them cuz no cell service out here and I’ve never gotten used to looking up everything on-line. BUT also…they go into a box labeled ALT TP. Just like the old Sears & Roebucks. You rip out a page or two….crumble them up really good to make them softer….and well, do not use this alternate T.P. to flush down modern toilets, of course. Either an outhouse. A ‘cat hole’. Or put in container with lid and burn later. I’ve collected lots of ALT TP ….and sincerely hope I don’t have to use it.
Today DH went to fill my truck with gas! 🙂 Can’t believe I let it get that empty. Grrrr! Spent a lot of today researching for a new disability device…..I’ve worn out my current one in the past 2 decades. Have to do a lot of measuring yet. Something I’d definitely NEED post-StuffHitsFan. Need to think of spare parts too.
Putting more things on the ‘Stock Up’ list as well as ‘We’re Out’ list. AND DH and I filled livestock water tank…plugged in expensive elect. heat to keep it from freezing in our subZero nites. Hoping we didn’t have to do that this year. 🙁
Thanks for the PA Glaspy tip, Woodrunner! Ebook is free thru Amazon too and I just got it. I’ve read a couple of her other ones. I get so many free that I rarely ‘buy’ one. Above mentioned ‘Expedition’ by JerryDYoung were exceptions. I’ve gotten so many free from that man, I owe him!
