Red Carnation, I’d love to hear any tips you may have about how to cook with a thermal cooker! I have a small Saratoga Jack’s thermal cooker but I’m ashamed to say I haven’t tried using it yet.
This morning I downloaded the 23 free e-books from the “Medical-Nursing” section of the www dot survivorlibrary dot com website that Daisy mentioned in one of her Organic Prepper emails earlier this month. The books are mostly from the early 1900’s but I think that some of the advice they contain will still be applicable these days (for example, how to set up a sick-room in your home and what to feed a patient). I was excited to see that the 1911 edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica is also available for free download at that website. I’ll definitely be downloading that soon!
One great free e-book I didn’t notice there, but which (at least as of this morning) is still available for free download in pdf format elsewhere is: <u>Practical Plastic Surgery for Nonsurgeons</u> by Nadine B. Semer, M.D.. You may already have a copy but, if not, you can download it at: http://practicalplasticsurgery dot org/the-book/ (just substitute a real dot in place of the word “dot” and close up the spaces to make the link work). That book has chapters covering: ‘Suturing Basics, Basic Surgical Techniques, Local Anesthesia, Protecting Yourself from Infectious Diseases, Evaluation of the Acutel Injured Patient, Evaluation of an Acute Wound, Gunshot Wounds, Nutrition, Taking Care of Wounds, Secondary Wound Closure, Primary Wound Closure, Skin Grafts, Local Flaps, Distant Flaps, Scar Formation, Facial Lacerations, Pressure Sores, Chronic Wounds, Soft Tissue Infections, Burns, Fractures of the Tibia and Fibula, Skin Cancer, Cleft Lip/Palate, Breast Surgery, Facial Fractures, The Normal Hand Exam, Evaluating the Injured Hand, Hand Splinting and General Aftercare, Fingertip and Nail Bed Injuries, Finger Fractures and Dislocations, Traumatic Hand and Finger Amputations, Tendon Injuries of the Hand, Nerve and Vascular Injuries of the Hand, Hand Burns, Hand Crush Injury and Compartment Syndrome, Hand Infections: General Information, Specific Types of Hand Infections, Chronic Hand Conditions, and Exploration of an Injured Hand or Forearm.’ Cynthia J. Koelker, M.D., the author of the book <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Armageddon Medicine</span>, highly recommends that people interested in emergency preparedness download <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Practical Plastic Surgery for Nonsurgeons</span> for their own medical preparedness libraries.
