Hieronyma Textor – You’re welcome 🙂
Although I do have a manual Wondermill Junior among my preps for a grid-down situation and for grinding nuts and seeds, today I did some online research about electric grain mills. I have a Nutrimill but I’ve only used it a few times – mainly because it’s too bulky to keep out in my kitchen all the time, so it tends to stay in a storage closet. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Mockmill, so I spent some time reading about the three available models (the 100 and the 200, which has the same dimensions as the 100 model but reportedly grinds twice as fast, and the Mockmill Kitchenaid attachment). I like that the Mockmill 100 and 200 are small enough to sit on a kitchen counter under a cabinet. I think I’d be far more likely to use one of those than my Nutrimill. I also learned that Mockmill has started offering financing options for folks who might prefer to pay for the mill over 6, 12, or 18 months rather than all at once. The 6 month option is interest free, which is nice. The Mockmill 100 reportedly uses 360 watts of electricity, while the Mockmill 200 reportedly uses 600 watts. However, I don’t know what “surge” watts each model needs when it first starts up. I would want to be sure it could run off a solar charged battery and inverter set-up if necessary. Guess I’ll have to contact the company about that since the amount of surge watts needed (sorry if I’m not using the correct technical term) is not listed on their website as far as I could tell. So, obviously I still have a bit more research to do, lol.
