Power went off right about time to think about breakfast.  So fired up my rocket stove and used one of the fire starters I had made several days ago.  Took a little to get the firestarter made from egg carton and wax plus lint to light.  Since wind was blowing, it was a good test.  Picked up on a couple of better ways to light one.

Boiled some eggs and was very quick to boil…around 5 minutes.

Then fried some eggs and scrambled some.  Worked very well.  So pretty good little test for when power goes out longer.  The little bit of smoke blew away and the stove did not make a mark on my aluminum table.

While power was out but we are able to run some lights from the landlords generator…have to be careful what we run on the 15 amp circuit…

I finished my wife’s present.  Not great but was fun.  It is something I was able to pick up at a Quilt show while she was not looking.  You glue little plastic jewels onto a canvas.  Kind of like paint by numbers…but lots and lots of the little things.  Went pretty well.  Only the tree has them.  Then was a comedy to get her to help me cut out the mat without seeing what I was doing.
