20th-Dropped a package at the post office in the morning before work. Was on the reg three hours, long time, mostly nice people until that one who is joyless. I did not crush her potato chips, lol. Reminded me of David Sedaris’ Elf Diaries, when he was an elf in Santa’s Village and the lady said I’m going to have you fired. Lol, I’ll leave it there if you know what the rest of it is, but I was thinking it. Filled the tank yesterday on the way home from work, had sake and knitted until midnight. The afghan is getting large and is gracefully blending into another color. Real happy with the way it’s coming out. Determined to finish it. I started it three years ago in November when I tore the ligaments in my knee and missed quite a lot of work. My Basset came down with Pancreatitis, my little ancient mare got laminitis and my other Basset was getting a nasal tumor. It was a very bad time and I had no extra funds, and was hoping to get the afghan finished for my daughter for Christmas… and now I am. Life is better now, well financially anyway. I did lose both Bassets and my mare in the last three years. But I have the maniac boy Sheltie as comic relief.
Today when I was on the reg in the morning a man was backing up into a space in the parking lot and they guess hit the gas instead of the brakes, he crashed into three cars and a cart full of groceries a 72 year old woman was loading into her trunk. She survived thank goodness, is in the hospital now. Crazy energy. My theory, they all drive like they push their carts in the store, sometimes I have to jump out of the way. Be careful out there.
Happy Winter Solstice. Tonight I gifted myself with the new slippers, Isotoners with memory foam, so comfy, I bought over the summer, got a pair for my daughter too. I’ve been picking up Christmas gifts here and there for months now. There’s still about three projects I’d like to finish for my friends, but I have back up presents in case I don’t. Tonight I am going to work on the afghan again and working on a list of preps in areas where I’m a little lacking. I’d like to keep more liquor but darn I keep using it.
