Wow, I’ve done failed at being active on here.

The Alaska Earthquake freaked me out because my SIL lives there and was without power for 2 days. She had things that they needed to get by for a week but no more than that. So I asked her what they needed/used during that 2 days, and then worked on implementing it in my own home.

Week 1: meal planned the whole month, shopped to fill low spots in my pantry. I found most of my flashlights, placed them where they would be useful and easy to find, changed out batteries. Bought extra batteries for all flashlights. Replaced all batteries in CO2 and Smoke alarms, and bought a new one for our Master. Made a Power Outage Kit for my kiddos, which includes ALL THE THINGS to keep our stress low.

Week 2: prepped freezer meals. bought long term food storage, 4 more cases of water, new sleeping bags for each kid ($10 each!), pieces for 72 hour kits, and another 18 pack of TP. Wrapped all presents for Christmas, collected all my candles to 2 locations, 1 on each floor, and keep them with a box of matches and a 5 pack of lighters.

Week 3: made bread and apple butter for Christmas gifts, attached a recipe for each, and delivered them to friends, neighbors, and some family members. Worked on loom knitting a scarf for one of my kids, hemmed and repaired several sewing projects. Bought new Waterproof mittens, snow boots, and warm socks for our kids. Cleaned out my paper clutter (Preschoolers make a lot of crafts), worked on uploading pictures to my external hard drive, and put several items into my safe. Decided I need to buy me a .22 because (gasp) I’m not super confident with guns and I want to practice with a smaller gun first.

Mover the month, I’ve also made a shopping plan for my 2019 prepping budget. Each month, I take so much and buy things, and this year, my budget gets to go up by $10 per month! Thankfully my gardening equipment and my husbands reloading equipment count for us as Hobby, so they’re a whole other budget. 😁

I hope we keep doing this every month. I would love to be more active through 2019.
