Read Daisy’s book Cheapskate guide to personal finance today.  Have done some but need to work on some more.

Split enough wood to keep my rocket stove in fuel for about a month I think.  Remember that is not the kind of wood pile you all are thinking…it only takes a little bit to do a meal with it.  So splitting up enough kindling basically is around a good arm load of wood.  The challenge was that I no longer have the place or tools to do it correctly.  Used to have wood only for heat and cut and split a whole lot more.  But we have gas heat if electricity is working so my concern is to have fuel for my alternate cooking methods.  Used my little emergency axe that I keep in the car so it took a while but I got it.  I can burn twigs and little sticks but needed some other fir kindling to get it going.  So that is off my list for the moment.

Took grandkids up to the Astoria Column and they walked up all of the 164 steps to fly their little wooden airplanes off the top.  The place sells them for a dollar so you can do just that.  They found two and resent them from the top once more.   They are thinking correctly…why buy more?

Tried to learn how to braid an eye in some rope by watching YouTube but not getting the knack yet…will probably try to talk my wife into helping me…she is a quilter so it should come natural right? She also raised three girls and a passel of grand girls so has braided a lot of hair!  When ever she was sick and I had to get them ready for Church…my hair skills were pitiful.

Have a good night
